How to become an adoptive parent?

Heart of the Kids Social Services assists families through adoption by preparing, nurturing, and advocating, for all those involved in the adoption process, and by building a thriving adoptive network in a supportive community. We have a belief that every child has the right to grow up in a family where he or she is loved, nurtured, protected, and appreciated for his or her unique individuality.

Do you qualify?
-
Adults who are single or married may qualify to become adoptive or foster parents.
-
You don’t need prior experience with parenting but you do need to be patient, loving, and willing to learn about the needs of the child in your care.
-
Parents must also be able to provide a safe and nurturing home that has adequate space and complies with child safety regulations.
-
Your income must be sufficient to meet your family’s needs, however, financial assistance is provided to care for foster and adoptive children.
-
Parents must have dependable transportation to transport the child to and from appointments.
-
The entire process, including a home study and various training, takes about two to three months or can take longer depending upon the type of child a family desires.
